engineering basics

My goal for the next year is to become the crackest software engineer I know. I have to make this work.

By September, I’d also have to push my studies in economics. I’d probably write some other time about why I chose to major in finance and economics, but long story short, I’ve been through the software engineering curriculum, sadly, without the maths path. If I had taken that route [ I mean going to a typical university for a degree in Computer Sciene or any related field], I’d probably be chasing a master’s in a more niche space by now.

But I am glad and grateful for where I currently am.

I had a sprint from late 2021 to late 2024. Then, the year of grief kicked in.

It’s been a gradual process, but I can say I feel way better than I did last month. There was a silver lining to all the pain I went through. I’m grateful to Activision, my sisters and brothers, and the friends who were there to help me walk through that phase.

They probably never even knew what was going on.

But the reason to keep pushing now is clear.

It’s because I like to live. I love being here.

And living, to me, is being able to create.

I have to get back to doing what brings me joy: Creating. Building things. Contributing, just like the great people behind me and those ahead of me, people who are creating, contributing, and trying to make the world just a percent better.

That’s why I am here.

For this sprint, I have to go back to the basics. I have to equip myself with knowledge, learn things, implement them, and iterate.

Learn. Build. Break things. Understand why they broke. Fix them. Iterate.

I have a lot to explore, and thankfully, I still have time.
